Marasco Center Weekly Schedule

Monday's Hours: 9am - 4pm 
Special Programs: Dance Aerobics 9:30am - 10:30am ($5 per class): Dance Aerobics is a cardiovascular exercise program geared towards senior citizens.

Introduction to T'ai Chi Chih- 10:45-11:45am- ($5 per class): Come and learn the best kept secret for living life. T'ai Chi Chih is a new form of the Chi Kung discipline: that is, one that is concerned with the development, circulation, and balancing of the Vital Force (Chi). It can be called a moving meditation, a means of spiritual cultivation and an aid to greater health and longevity. This course is designed for anyone new to T'ai Chi Chih or anyone who wants a refresher of the basics. At the completion of the course, you will have learned all 19 movements and one pose. The instructor is John Hunter. 

Tuesday's Hours: 9am - 3pm 
Special Programs: Chair Yoga: 9am - 10am ($5 per class): Chair yoga is approved by the arthritis foundation to ease aches and pains and increases range of motion in participants. 

Senior Matinee: TBD

Wednesday's Hours: 9am - 3pm 
Special Programs: Ongoing T'ai Chi Chih- 9:00-10:00am ($5 per class): This class is designed to provide students who have already learned the 19 movements and one pose with ongoing practice and subtle refinements necessary to improve a person's individual T'ai Chi Chih practice. Further discussion about the "Six Principles of How to Move" and a focus on some of the more complex movements will be included. Practicing with a group on a regular basis also enhances the experience. 

 

Zumba Gold with Paula Castro: 10am - 11am ($5 per class) Zumba Gold is a new Latin and International Dance based workout geared towards Senior Citizens that is turning out to be a lot more fun than exercise should be. Zumba Gold is easy to follow and is a safe way to achieve a workout for the full body, as well as for the mind and soul. If you are breathing you can do Zumba Gold!

 

BCW (Balance, Cardio, & Weight): Taught by Paula Castro 11-11:45am ($5 per class) BCW is a low impact beginners class that works on balance, building cardio, and basic weight training. 

Thursday's Hours: 9am - 4pm
Special Programs: Chair Yoga: 9am-10am ($5 per class) Chair yoga is approved by the arthritis foundation to ease aches and pains and increases range of motion in participants.

 

Walk 15 10am-11:00am ($5 per class): Walk 15 Low impact, easy to follow workout walk to energizing music. You can even do it seated! Walk 15. . . Fitness for All! 

Open day of activities (cards, bingo, knitting, etc)

Friday's Hours: 9am - 3pm
Special Programs: Day of Art- Draw, Paint, etc. with other artists in this open day of art activities.

 

 

New Windsor Senior Citizens Club

A club comprised of New Windsor's Seniors that is separate from the Town's Marasco Center that meets twice a month on Friday's at the New Windsor Community Center 555 Union Avenue, New Windsor. Besides their normal meetings they have special luncheons and offer trips. For more information please view their webpage by clicking HERE.

 

 

AARP Smart Drivers Course

When you take the AARP Smart Driver™ in person course, you could be eligible for a multi-year discount on your auto insurance.* Plus safer driving can save you more than just money. The course teaches proven driving techniques to help keep you and your loved ones safe on the road. The Town of New Windsor is pleased to host this course monthy at our Marasco Senior Center which is located at New Windsor Town Hall Complex 555 Union Avenue, New Windsor, NY 12553. To register for the class you may do so in person at the Town of New Windsor Recreation Department at 244 Union Avenue in New Windsor. The price for the course is $25 for AARP Members and $30 for non-members. The course is open to all of driving age. The upcoming courses schedule are : 

Saturday June 29th, 2024  8:30am to 3:30pm in the Marasco Senior Center. 

Saturday August 24th, 2024  8:30am to 3:30pm in the Marasco Senior Center
